Review on Amazon Blog

January 20, 2008

I had a chance to sit down with the guys from Sleek Audio and try out their new SA6 In-Ear Monitors. In-ear headphones rely on the ear canal to directly function as a resonating chamber for them to work. Since everyone has differently shaped ear canals, the same headphone can sound significantly different on each person. The really neat thing about Sleek Audio’s SA6 is that it has interchangeable bass ports and treble tips. This enables you to physically personalize the character of the sound without having to rely on software or on-board equalizers.

The bass response was definitely punchy and full sounding, but still remained tight. Even at its heaviest it never sounded boomy or blown out. Highs sounded airy and transparent. The SA6 also has some of the most comfortable flanged eartips I’ve ever tried. While they are very soft and cushiony, they do an excellent job of blocking outside sound and sealing you in with your music.
